Introduction
Following ever more frequent headlines of environmental catastrophes of hurricanes, floods, and fires across the world we feel that any new business created must consider its environmental impact in everything it does. We will consider the environmental impacts of our business and its products from the ground to its end of life and will measure, reduce and mitigate any emissions we produce.
Targets
Climate scientists and politicians came together in Paris to sign the Paris Accord in 2016. This agreement pledged “Holding the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2 °C above pre-industrial levels and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 °C”.
Wood-Moor commits to this science-based target to ensure its emissions are in line with the decarbonisation required to meet the Paris Agreement. This means first measuring our emissions using the internationally ratified Greenhouse Gas Protocol and then taking steps to reduce the carbon emissions of our organisation in the future. We will publish the findings annually alongside our financial accounts for transparency.
Assessment
To assess our impact on the planet we will measure our carbon footprint of all three scopes of our emissions and report on them annually. This ensures the monitoring is relevant, complete, consistent (across companies and years), transparent and accurate.
We have chosen to measure the full impact of our operations across our organisation as accurately as possible. We will have to make some assumptions due to the availability of information but we intend to improve our monitoring, and reporting by filling in these gaps in the coming years.
We will go above and beyond the minimum requirements for measuring our emissions and calculate their Scope 3 emissions which includes our staff travel, the emissions from selling our products and even the emissions from any hotel stays and working from home.
Our Pledge
Wood + Moor will consider the environmental impact in everything is does, it will be totally transparent by publishing its emissions annually and work to mitigate any emissions its activities or products create.
The statement was approved by the board of directors April 2024.
